Lefebvre calls for ‘big effort’ as Dutiaume aims to keep it tight

-

Dundee Stars have trained well ahead of their Elite League play-off doubleheader with Braehead Clan which starts on Tayside tonight, with the return at Braehead tomorrow.

Clan finished fifth in the league with 57 points from 52 fixtures while Dundee were seventh with 46 points.

Lefebvre said: “It’s what we do on the night which is important and we will need two big efforts from the guys to get us to where we want to be.”

Meanwhile, Todd Dutiaume urged his men to concentrate for a full 120 minutes if they want to progress to the final four.

Fife Flyers’ experienced coach takes his squad to Belfast ahead of tonight’s first leg.

And Dutiaume is determined to keep things tight ahead of Sunday’s return at Kirkcaldy.

He said: “Every shift is important in this game. You can’t win this tie in the first three periods, but you can lose it.

“Belfast pushed Cardiff (Devils) all the way for the title and they will be up for this tie.

“We have to lift ourselves to compete and there is no reason to be lacking in confidence.”

Giants finished second in the table with 74 points, seven behind Cardiff, while Fife were sixth with 53 points.

Dutiaume added: “We have a talented group and when we commit we can beat anybody in this league.

“We all want to be successful in this organisation and it is up to the players to find a way to win this weekend.”

Dundee Tigers are underdogs as they face defending play-off champions Aberdeen Lynx over two legs in the Scottish National play-offs, with the first leg tonight in the Granite City.

The return is on Tayside tomorrow and it is a big task as Tigers finished a disappointing seventh in the league while Lynx narrowly missed out in the championship race.

The winner will face Dundee Comets in the semi-final at Kirkcaldy on Saturday April 8.
