‘No stranger to the court’ admits breaking into Brechin car wash

-

A prolific offender who raided a Brechin car wash is facing a tagging order.

Jason King, 44, of Southesk Terrace, Brechin, appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court where he admitted forcing open the machine at Mackie Cars on Montrose Road industrial estate on February 23 last year.

King also pleaded guilty to failing to previously appear in court in connection with the matter.

The accused, described by solicitor Grant Bruce as “no stranger to the court” was immediately identified by police when they reviewed CCTV footage from the scene.

Sheriff Alison McKay said: “Your record is quite lengthy but to your credit your rate of offending does appear to have diminished over the years.”

King’s case was continued for a month for a Restriction of Liberty Order assessment.

Also at Forfar: Brian Young, 68, of Grange Road, Monifieth, was placed on a six-month good behaviour order after admitting behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at his home on March 5 this year by shouting and swearing and kicking a bedroom door.

The court heard the accused’s partner had called police as a result of the incident, which happened after they had returned home from a family christening.

Robert McCombie, 54, of Knowehead Crescent, Kirriemuir, was fined £300 and banned from driving for 24 months after admitting driving with excess alcohol on January 26.

McCombie was stopped by police because of the manner of his driving and gave a reading of 96 microgrammes, against a legal limit of 22.
