County gets ready to spring into life with events of all kinds
It’s time to explore the best of what Angus has to offer over the coming months
If reading is your cup of tea or perhaps you would like to get back into the habit, join Angus Library Services’ 6 Book Challenge.
Read six books over the course of the mobile library’s visits to Arbroath Sports Centre on May 5 or laugh your socks off and have fun by sharing stories and songs at Bookbug from May 15-20.
Angus museums are also hosting a series of exhibitions to spark the imagination.
Big Hooses Roond About at the Gateway to the Glens Museum in Kirriemuir allows visitors to get a Downtown Abbey feel of the upstairs/downstairs life in local country houses. It runs until April 15.
The Signal Tower Museum in Arbroath reopened its lens room so why not come and see the fantastic display of the original lighthouse lens and a permanent exhibition.
Forfar’s Meffan Museum and Art Gallery hosts Making Space until September 23. The exhibition showcases ceramic work from artists Lorna Fraser and Carol Sinclair.
The Festival of Museums takes place on May 20-21 and includes a reenactment day at Gateway to the Glens on Saturday May 20 from 10am to 4pm, culminating in living history performances at the Signal Tower Museum at 10.30am and 2pm.
The country parks will be featuring various activities, from bug box workshops at Crombie to beach beastie searches at Easthaven.
There is also a Weekend Bonanza at Monikie on Saturday May 6 and Sunday May 7 from 10am-1pm, where visitors can try out all five of the park’s watersports – windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and paddleboards – but just pay for one.
At The Webster Memorial Theatre in Arbroath you can join the Dancemania troop on Friday June 2 and Saturday June 3 at 7pm for a street, musical theatre and contemporary dance show.
