MEARNS:

The Laurenceki­rk Developmen­t Trust has organised a public meeting for candidates in the forthcomin­g election.

The Question Time event will be held in the St Laurence Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday.

This will give the electorate an opportunit­y to question the candidates on their various policies and proposals, and gauge their responses.

BRECHIN:

Brechin and District Floral Art Club will meet in the Cathedral Hall on Thursday at 7.30pm.

The demonstrat­or this month is Derek Morgan and his title is woodland walks.

MONIFIETH:

Monifieth Local History Society will discuss Scots in the deep south of the USA on Wednesday at 2pm in the community cabin, South Union Street.

Attendees are encouraged to ask questions relating to the subject following Walter Dunn’s talk.

Afternoon tea will be provided for all at the event.

Entry costs £4 for members with a £3 concession charge.

WRESTLING:

Tayside’s wrestling community gathered at Dundee’s Ardler Complex at a special memorial event for grappling legend Rowdy Roddy Piper last night.

Dundee-based Scottish Wrestling Entertainm­ent (SWE) organised a screening of John Carpenter’s cult sci-fi classic, They Live.
