Town that inspires
An exhibition at The St Andrews Preservation Trust Museum presents a fascinating insight into the inspiring nature of the town. Artists of St Andrews explores the work of a number of local artists such as Annabel Kidston, James Leckie Ewing, Josef Sekalski and Ada Hill Walker.
While few of the artists have received the limelight which they deserve, this exhibition will showcase some of the finest the town has to offer – from the 19th Century to the present day.
On display are some of the Trust’s most highly prized images including Annabel Kidston’s Students in Market Street, James Leckie Ewing’s St Andrews Harbour and Roberta Hodges’ Market Street.
The exhibition celebrates the 80th year of the St Andrews Preservation Trust by showcasing 80 of its notable paintings, drawings and prints some of which have never been on public display.
Artists of St Andrews provides visitors with a unique opportunity to experience a number of the Trust’s hidden treasures. These images were selected by trustees, volunteers and staff as well as members of the Trust and those who have played a part in the Trust’s history.
The St Andrews Preservation Trust Museum is a small but vital building with a unique history.
It is thought that the building was first built in the latter half of the 17th Century.
The Trust’s collection spans almost 300 years and includes more than 20,000 objects relating to the social history of the town.
The exhibition finishes on April 23, so try and catch it if you can.
