Trust relying on much-needed donations of food from public

More than 90% of the food the Trussell Trust gives out is donated by members of the public, and the group has compiled a list of items they desperatel­y require.

Tinned fruit, puddings and meats top the list of urgently required items in Dundee, as well as long-life UHT milk, coffee and breakfast cereals.

A number of locations in Dundee can accept foodbank donations including Sainsbury’s, both Tesco Extra stores, Dundee University, the Dundee Foodbank warehouse on Dunsinane Avenue, and Brands Books on Albert Street.

In Fife, the Dunfermlin­e Foodbank urgently needs potatoes, macaroni, custard, red sauce, mash, sponge pudding, milk, chocolate, instant noodles, men’s and woman’s deodorant and feminine hygiene products.

Donations in Fife can be made at Tesco stores in Duloch, Asda in Dalgety Bay, Bank of Scotland in East Port, the Dunfermlin­e Foodbank distributi­on centre and the Co-op funeral home in Inverkeith­ing.

The Angus Foodbank urgently requires toilet rolls, tea bags, hot dogs, UHT milk, instant potato, fruit juice, tinned vegetables, pasta sauce, sponge puddings, broth mix and toiletries.

Items can be donated at Tesco stores in Forfar and Montrose, Bridges Coffee shop in Kirriemuir, Rainbow charity shop in Brechin and at the foodbank at 1 Gravesend in Arbroath.

Perth and Kinross foodbanks are in need of juice, crisps, instant mash potato, tomatoes and toiletries.

Donations can be made at Tesco and Sainsbury’s stores in Perth and Blairgowri­e, and at the Perth Foodbank.
