Tayside residents have been confirmed as the victims of two horrific accidents on the A9 within the past week.

The man who died in a collision on the A9 near Dunblane last Thursday has been named by Police Scotland as Marek Majewski.

The 25-year-old, from the Perth and Kinross area, was driving a Honda Civic when he was involved in a three-vehicle accident.

His 26-year-old female passenger and a 41-year-old man were also injured in the crash, which happened near the Keir roundabout.

The young woman remains in hospital in what is described as a “serious but stable” condition.

Mr Majewski’s family released a photograph of their loved one but were otherwise too upset to speak about their loss.

His was one of two deaths to take place on the A9 in Perthshire last week

A female driver, also from the Tayside area, was killed following a two-car accident the following day.

Her vehicle collided with a second car at Kindallachan, around a mile south of Ballinluig services, on Friday and though medical teams were swiftly on the scene they were unable to save her life.

An air ambulance was called to attend but was stood down as the worst possible news was confirmed.

The woman’s devastated family have asked Police Scotland not to release her identity.

Both accidents took place on dual carriageway stretches of the road in areas covered by average speed cameras.

Murdo Fraser MSP said the deaths illustrated how dangerous the A9 remains and how vital it is for all motorists to take the greatest care when driving on it.

“These latest tragedies demonstrate that the A9 still cannot shake its tag as Scotland’s deadliest road and my thoughts are with the family and friends of those killed,” he said.

“Drivers must take extra care when driving on the A9 and I would encourage anyone using the route, even those who drive it regularly, to be alert and aware of the dangers.”
