Dundee promoters Make That A Take presents Scotland’s finest angry and articulate guitar-slinging songwriter Billy Liar at Conroy’s Basement tonight.

Billy returns to Dundee from his adopted home of Berlin as part of his UK tour, having spent the last 10 years releasing a slew of wellreceiv­ed and critically­acclaimed EPs and singles.

He’s toured relentless­ly across the globe including the USA, Australia, New Zealand and all corners of Europe.

This year marks the 10th anniversar­y since MTAT first hosted Billy in the basement of Drouthy Neebors and 2017 will see the release of his longawaite­d debut LP.

Support comes from Dundee swinging rockers The Valens, Brian Curran, and Perth’s Josef Lawrence and the Hypocrites, whose infectious fizzy melodic indie rock has seen them play all across Scotland and release their new EP last month.

Doors open at 7.30pm and advance tickets are £5, or £6 on the door.

There’s Britpop and indie busking anthems from Kieron Smart at Clark’s on Lindsay Street tonight from 6.30pm.

That’s followed at 9.30pm by the sensationa­lly smooth 70s and 80s sounds of Miami Vince. Abandon bring their jazzy, funky pop and soul tomorrow with a little help from the Sellars Brothers Brass at 9.30pm.

Both are free entry before midnight.

After the first sell out gig at Christmas, Bowie night is back on Sunday for a celebratio­n of the songs of David Bowie performed live by members of Miami Vince along with special guests Kit Clark, Christophe­r Marra and Stephen Hart. It’s sold out again so if you were lucky enough to get tickets the doors open at 7.30pm.

Pre-Production has English rock/new wave singersong­writer Wreckless Eric on Tuesday.

Cherry Bombz play three unplugged shows this weekend starting tomorrow at Anchor in Arbroath from 4pm. The pop punk group also play Glencarse Bar in Glencarse on Sunday at 4pm followed by Powrie Bar in Dundee at 9pm.

Barry and Nicky Lawson are in the acoustic session tonight at Number 57 from 9pm.

Tomorrow it’s Coupe de Ville at 5.30pm followed by Itchycoo Park from 9.30pm.

The Junkyard Dogs are in their usual Sunday residency at 7pm.

Event management students from Dundee and Angus College are holding an unplugged night at The Undergroun­d tonight from 8pm in aid of mental health charity Heart Tay Heart.

Headliners True Romance will be joined by Haystack Monolith, Nathan Bellshaw, Iain Spottiswoo­ode and Ayden Greensmith.

Tickets cost £3 and are available through the Unplugged at Undergroun­d event page on Facebook.

Buck Rogers kick things off at McDaniels tonight from 9.30pm.

Tomorrow it’s The Elaine Stewart Band at 10pm. There’s a full day of DJs on Sunday as part of the Dundee Dance Event.

Hannah Laing, Robert Hamilton, Beezer, Roo Falconer, Jason Adam, Lukey Davies, Louis Swankie and Michael Carle will be on the decks from 2pm.

Watford hardcore rock band The Hell are at Redd Suite tonight as part of their UK tour. Support comes from The Weight of Atlas, Violent Relapse and Catalysis.

Advance tickets are £8 from Groucho’s or £10 on the door from 7pm.

The Bank Bar has Huge Mouse tonight from 9.30pm.

The Shrinks are at the same time tomorrow.

Songwriter­s Sunday is hosted by Gavin McGinty with guest performanc­es by local musicians from 8pm.

Dave Webster’s open mic night is on Wednesday at 8.30pm.

The annual Bandathon tickets are now on sale priced £5 with all proceeds going to Tayside Mountain Rescue.

The event will take place on Sunday June 25 with 12 hours of music from the best local talent.

Tonight at the Reading Rooms it’s Fontradona with Max Galloway playing an allnight session of worldwide beats. Gates open at 10.30pm and entry is free before midnight or £5 after.

Book Club goes dark and dirty tomorrow with Breed label boss Kris Wadsworth paying a visit with some low slung, throbbing techno.

Is Kill and Marc JD are on support. Tickets are £10 from residentad­visor.net and gates open at 10pm.

Sunday sees the return of Hot Cats – Party on a Sunday for its first party of the year.

Music comes from Is Kill, Marc JD, Ronan, Matt Man and Malloch and it kicks off at 4pm. Entry is free before 8pm if you have your stamp from Saturday’s Book Club otherwise it’s £5 before 8pm, £8 after.
