Gorgeous avenue

-

“Having problems finding suitable frostresistant plants for our garden, I made a detour via a garden centre on Arbroath’s Montrose road to get what I wanted,” writes a Craigie regular.

“The current cold spell in Scotland has not registered with some supermarkets and they are offering only summer bedding and potted plants not hardy enough to survive our cold nights.

“I was annoyed at having to go so far, but my annoyance dissipated when I beheld the gorgeous avenue of cherry trees on the road out of Arbroath to Montrose: the effect was stunningly beautiful in the spring sunshine.

“My mood was lifted by such a sight. God bless the parks department and gardeners whose idea it was to plant cherry trees along that road!”
