- NANCY NICOLSON FARMING EDITOR nnicolson@thecourier.co.uk

A mixed arable and stock farm has come on the market in the Carse of Stirling.

Alton of Bandeath extends to 483 acres and includes a traditional fivebedroom farmhouse and a separate three-bedroom cottage, along with an extensive range of traditional farm buildings.

There are several additional blocks of land zoned for business use under the current local plan, offering development potential as well as a small block of amenity woodland. Fishing rights on the Forth are included in the sale.

The farm carries about 400 Suffolk cross mule ewes with all lambs finished on grass at the farm and the present arable system is based around a cereal rotation involving winter wheat, spring barley, spring oats and grass leys.

The land has predominately been classed as Grade 3.2 by the James Hutton Institute and is classified as Region 1 for the purpose of basic payment schemes.

A recent reseeding programme has taken place on the land allowing high yields of fodder crops to be produced and the majority of land has been sown with cereal in previous years.

The farm was historically owned by the Ministry of Defence and has been farmed by the same family for the last 50 years

Alton of Bandeath is being marketed by CKD Galbraith at offers over £2,235,000 or in six separate lots.
