Forfar venue launches seats bid

-

Forfar Dramatic Society has launched a fundraiser to buy seats at its newly-launched venue.

Two recent productions, Whisky Galore and Good Things, have confirmed Studio 132 is working well but audiences would benefit from more comfortable, tiered seating.

It has just launched a crowdfunding initiative, inviting public and business contributions.

The society aims to make the venue a “cultural hub” on East High Street, and run a programme of activities during Forfar Gala Week.

Clydebuilt Puppets, one of Scotland’s leading puppet theatre companies, will visit on June 18.

Plans are at an advanced stage to run a “play in a day” youth theatre workshop, while negotiations are ongoing to secure a theatre performance and an original sound and light show with a Forfar theme.

A reception would be held for those contributing to the crowdfunding campaign during the gala week.

If the crowdfunding appeal goes well, the society’s hope is that new seats will be in place by the week of the gala.

A spokesman said: “This is an ambitious target, but one which can be achieved if the Forfar community gets behind the campaign and supports the development of this new arts and cultural resource in the town.”
