FORBES OF KINGENNIE.

This last week has been a fair bit colder than of late but the fishing has been on fire, with some outstanding catches coming in from all the ponds.

The boathouse has been a bit coloured but the fish don’t seem to have minded with catches at all levels and on a number of methods.

The bung has been very consistent with a mix of bugs, worms and buzzers underneath. Fish have taken a mix of lures, including damsels and bloodworms.

On the Burnside the fish have been up and down through the layers depending on the conditions. At times they have been just subsurface and when the wind gets up as deep as six feet has been necessary. With the water a bit clearer the buzzer fishing has been really good as well as the usual bung, lures and dries.

The Bankside has been a bit more exposed but a few anglers have still been getting among the fish. Again a variety of flies have been taking and on the right day buzzers have been good.

There has been great fishing at Woodside over the last week with loads of fish being caught from all over the pond.

The best method has been to fish with powerbait at around five feet deep. Over the weekend 37 anglers caught 73 fish for 121lb.

The Blawerie Basin coarse fishing pool has been busy in the last week with loads of perch and roach getting caught on light float gear and maggots as bait.

FRANDY FISHERY

continues to excel even in the cooler winds of late.

Alan Armstrong and Alan Graham (Dollar) kept six fish weighing 14lb 8oz and returned a further six, while Ben McGovern (Sauchie) caught and released seven. Donald McPherson (Crieff) kept two fish weighing 5lb and released three, Crawford McEwan (Newmains) seven on C/R and Joe Forshaw (Stirling) kept four fish weighing 9lb.

LAKE OF MENTEITH.

The water temperature is making gradual progress and has risen 0.5C in the last week. Some great buzzer fishing has been happening, from the main buzzer beds located in the Butts and Lochend.

In the fourth heat of the Scottish National Fly Fishing Championships, 56 anglers landed 155 trout for 334lb (average weight 2lb 2.5oz) and returned another 344,
