LETHAM: The village hall is embarking on a seven-month programme of car boot sales from today until October 7.

They will take place on the first Saturday of every month from 10am until 2pm.

Catering stalls not permitted but refreshmen­ts are available and pitches are on a first come, first served basis.

Pitches cost £8 for outdoor and £10 for indoor.

All in aid of hall improvemen­t funds.

FUNDRAISIN­G: Montrose Inner Wheel and Rotary have organised a fundraisin­g coffee morning today from 10amnoon in Old and St Andrews Church Hall.

There will be the usual stalls including cake and candy, books, whisky trail and raffle.

A new feature this year will be high-quality wood products produced by Brian Manzi.

KIRRIEMUIR: Marion Hood gave a talk to Kirriemuir Probus Club on Lippen Care.

The next meeting is on May 17 when Helen Henderson will talk on New Dawn House, Nepal.

AUCHMITHIE: A silent auction will take place in the village hall today from 9am, with bidding between 10am and noon. All items to be uplifted by 2pm.

Money raised will go to a volunteeri­ng trip in Cambodia with Challenges Abroad and the Future Sense Foundation.

BRECHIN: John Dein from Dundee gave a presentati­on at the Rotary club with the subject being Admiral Thomas Corcoran, revealing him as an unsung Scottish hero.

Admiral Corcoran was called the Sea Wolf by the French, and was involved in spectacula­rly successful sea battles in the 1800s.

Club member Jon Bergen gave a vote of thanks.
