Meigle quickly into stride

-

Three sides boast 100% records and, by the size of their wins on Saturday, have hit form rapidly.

Meigle batted first at Victory Park and took the Forfarshire II bowling apart with 252-7 in the allotted 45 overs. Neil Wimberley scored 60 and Matt Farmer 54 to leave the visitors with a mountain to climb.

Iain Stewart took 4-38, Alan Neave 3-16 and Farmer completed a fine afternoon’s work with 3-20 as Shire were despatched in less than 16 overs for 77.

Stoneywood Dyce faced a bit more resistance than that from Mannofield but were still very comfortable winners in the end, having batted first at Peoples Park and reached 256-7.

Liam Lindsay made 89 and Shaun Coetzer 88.

Rene Van Oorschott and Will Anderson were 3-39 and 3-48 respectively but the chase never really materialised and it was all over in less than 40 overs, although it was again Anderson with 54 and Oorschott with 40 who kept Mannofield in the game.

The S/D bowling, with David Kidd leading the way with 3-31, was solid enough for a 108-run win.

The 182-8 that Kinloch posted was a challenge to Arrowdawn Gordonians but the visitors had five overs and five wickets in hand when they reached the target total to hold on to their unbeaten record.

Hassab Kiyani with 44 and Persanth Wig with 36 got Kinloch into a decent position but Gordonians openers Aman Arora adding to his 3-63 with a sparkling 71 and Debo Barman with 47 leading the way for a four-wicket win.

Things were looking a bit wobbly for Dundee HSFP at 82-3 against Strathmore at Lochside but Balaji Ramalingan and Majid Raschid both made 87 runs.

Mike Gourlay (43), Matt Simpson (39), Chris Stevenson (39) and an unbeaten 32 from Norman Milton kept Strathmore in the game but behind the clock. With Gus Lindsay taking 5-26, the home side were all out for 207.

Wicketkeeper Trevor Brown and Graham Ferguson got Perth Doo’cot into a strong position reaching 242-8 against Arbroath United . Although Bryce Carnagie excelled with the bat, smacking 75 after taking three wickets, Perth’s overseas amateur Emuel Knoesen showed his class with 6-28 as Arbroath were all out for 134 in less than 30 overs.
