Ruthven Players’ festival dates

-

Ruthven Parish Festival is planning to hit the high notes with two classical music concerts in June.

The concerts, on Friday 9 and Sunday 11, will feature the Ruthven Players and will be held in the newly renovated Ruthven Community Hall.

The Friday concert will feature the work of Sphor, Mozart, Shostakovich and a selection of folksong arrangements by Gordon Jacob.

Then the Ruthven Players’ woodwinds will take centre stage for Gounod’s Petite Symphonie pour Instruments à Vent.

The concert on the Sunday will feature the Welsh soprano Zoe Perman.

Ruthven Festival secretary Evelyn Hood said: “Zoe has appeared in many prestigious venues, such as St David’s Hall and Wales Millennium Centre, performing many major soprano roles, including Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro.

“This promises to be another delightful afternoon of music in a beautiful riverside setting.”

In addition to the two June concerts, Ruthven Festival will be holding a guitar workshop led by Michael McGeary in the community hall on Saturday September 23.

Tickets for the concerts are priced at £20 and available by emailing ruthvenfestival@ tiscali.co.uk or by calling 01828 632558. The guitar workshop costs £25 and can be booked by calling 01250 876701.
