SILVIE AND RUTHVEN. President Joy Reid, welcomed everyone to the AGM two tellers from Glenisla WRI. Prize-winners: 1 Margaret Bruce, 2 Joy Reid, 3 Jackie McCowan. Flower of the Month crystal vase – Evelyn Nicoll. A new committee was appointed with Joy Reid as the president.

INVERARITY. The demonstrat­or for the evening was Anne Christie from Kingsmuir who gave a detailed demonstrat­ion of novelties which would be useful for a sale of work. A collection was taken for ACWW after May Kidd explained how relevant the charity was throughout the world. Prize-winners: Erskine Jackson Trophy – Rhoda Keith, Wilson Shield – Sheila Todd, Diamond Jubilee Cup – Sheila Todd. June Richardson continues as president.

KIRRIEMUIR. Linda Wells welcomed members and two tellers, Anne Findlay and Susan Belton, from Northmuir WRI. The May meeting was the AGM with reports presented by Linda Wells, president; Pat Paterson, secretary, and Anne Morrall, treasurer. Prize-winners: Institute competitio­ns – 1 (Mrs Orr Posy Bowl) Mrs Chris Horrocks, 2 (Manitoba Salver) Mrs Charlotte Brown. Flower of the month – 1 (Silver Bud Vase) Mrs Chris Horrocks, 2 (Silver Dish) Mrs Anne Morrall. Housewives at Federation Show (Mrs Nicoll Cup) – Mrs Ivy Ray, Handcrafts at Federation Show (Mrs Herald Salver) – Mrs Pat Paterson, Senior Section Federation Show (Mrs Ferguson Cup) – Mrs Charlotte Brown.

Three members of the committee, Pat Paterson, Dianne Stout and Anne Morrall entertaine­d by recalling diverse and unusual personal experience­s and were thanked by Linda Wells.

Competitio­ns: Floral arrangemen­t in an egg cup – 1 Charlotte Brown, 2 Anne Morrall, 3 Ruth Fraser and Ivy Ray. Garden flower of the month – 1 Charlotte Brown, 2 Anne Morrall, 3 Ivy Ray.

The next meeting, on June 8, is an outing for lunch at Glamis Castle.

KINGSMUIR. President Jean Cook introduced Chloe Leuchars who gave a demonstrat­ion of hula hooping and invited members to try. Jean then handed out trophies won in competitio­ns during the last year. Kathleen McDonald won the Violet Carnegy Cup for most points overall and the Hilda Jolly Quaich for most points in handcrafts.

Anne Elder won the Mary Wyllie Quaich for most points in housewives. Ann Menmuir won the Painted Plate Trophy for institute member with most points in the Federation Show.

Competitio­n: Necklace from store cupboard items – 1 Ann Christie, 2 Ann Menmuir. Jar of Apple Chutney – 1 Jean Cook, 2 Ann Christie, 3 Kathleen McDonald.
