The View are the headliners at Perth Concert Hall tomorrow night as part of Perth Festival of the Arts.

The show is part of the Dundee band’s 10th anniversar­y tour celebratin­g the release in 2007 of their hugely successful debut album Hats Off to the Buskers, which shot to number one in the UK album charts and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.

They’ll be playing the album in its entirety as well as tracks from their other four studio albums.

There are still a few tickets left for what should be a raucous night with the Dryburgh lads, with support from Nickajack Men and The Snuts.

The Dundee Acoustic Music Club welcomes American singer/guitarist Vera Van Heeringen and her Trio to Roseangle Arts Cafe on Sunday.

Vera’s live performanc­es are always intimate, full of feel, groove and diversity. It’s unusual to find someone who’s as good a songwriter as an instrument­alist, who brings the guitar to life in a way that is entirely her own.

She tours with harmony king Dave Luke on guitar, vocals and mandolin, (Gail Davies) and double bassist Andy Seward (Kate Rusby band, Eddi Reader, Richard Thompson).

Doors open at 1.30pm.

Emerald Sunday officially launch their new, self-titled album tonight with a show at Bar 15 in Dundee.

The album has already peaked at number 29 on the Amazon Rock Best Sellers chart.

Live this year they have supported Embrace, Simon Hough (Big Country) and in June they share the stage with Primal Scream and Chase and Status at the Enjoy music festival, Aberdeen. They’re also supporting The Skids in Montrose in June.

Big things, then, for a band clearly on the up.

Support comes from Aberdeen band Loa, doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are available on the door.

Dundee University Students’ Union celebrates two separate events tonight, the opening of the Degree Show and the after-show party, both of which are open to the public.

The first event, sponsored by Carnival 56 and Ignite Dundee, is a street party along Airlie Place featuring local live bands and guest DJs – entry for that is free.

The Mirror Trap, Buffalo Soldiers, The Law (acoustic) and Glasgow funksters Shaka Loves You will be there from 8.30pm.

The second event, which is in conjunctio­n with Select UK Radio, The Degree Show After Party will be broadcast live on the night and features guest DJs – admission is £8/£10.

It takes place from 11pm in the union, with a host of DJs, including DJ Jamielisa, Ryan Beattie, Per Pedersen, Josh Parkinson and Matthew Ralph in various different rooms.

Cherry Bombz are at Bissels Bar tonight at 9.30pm. On Sunday the pop punk group is unplugged at East End Bar in Brechin from 3pm.

Number 57 has its weekly acoustic session tonight from 9pm.

Tivvy is in the tea time session tomorrow at 5.30pm.

On Sunday it’s The Junkyard Dogs from 7pm.

There’s classic and modern rock and pop covers from Audio Fraud at McDaniels tonight from 9.30pm.

Tomorrow it’s Hustler at 10pm.

Barry and Nicky Lawson kick things off at the Bank Bar tonight.

Tomorrow it’s The Broon Troot Orchestra. Both start at 9.30pm.

Songwriter­s’ Sunday is hosted by Gavin McGinty with special guest performers from 8pm.

Dave Webster’s open mic is back on Wednesday at 8.30pm.

It’s Blackscrof­t Barbecue at the Reading Rooms today with burgers, cocktails and music from Max and Ronan.

Entry is free and it starts at 4pm. That’s followed by the Mungo’s Hi Fi degree show special, featuring Eva Lazarus live.

Get down from 10.30pm for the best in reggae, dub and dancehall.

The barbecue gets fired up again tomorrow at 4pm before the Locarno boys Red and Steven take over at 10pm with a little help from Reuben and Max.

Expect the usual alternativ­e slice of 50s and 60s rock and roll, pop, soul, surf, funk and more.

Reckless Kettle presents the Degree Show Meltdown all day party and barbecue on Sunday.

There’s music from residents Mikey and Fergus, plus Vinyl Matt, Jute City Jam, Ethos vs Stamina and Marked Men.

Gates open at 4pm and there’s free entry before 6pm, £5 after.

There’s bluesy rock at Clark’s on Lindsay Street tonight with Two Wheels Good.

Miami Vince bring their smooth pop earworms tomorrow.

Both start at 9.30pm with free entry before midnight.

The Sunday Song Club is hosted this week by David Webster and Stevie Anderson of Sinderins.

Pre-Production welcomes American power trio The Tommy Bentz Band on Thursday.

Jamming in the style of “the Allman Brothers meets Van Morrison”, the band combines all of their years of musical performanc­e into a tight, energised, soulful, live musical package like nothing you’ve heard before.
