Appeal after man ‘chased’ two women into pub

-

Police are investigating an incident in which two Angus women took “terrified” refuge in a pub after a man chased them along the street.

Megan McIntosh and Lisa Bruce were approached by the man near Duthie’s garage in Montrose late on Sunday night.

Megan, 19, a beauty therapist student, said: “A foreign man on a bike crossed the road and approached us and said hello.

“We walked away and he was just standing staring at us.

“Then when we got to the corner of the road he said something else and turned around and started chasing us.

“We started running and he started going even faster.

“He was shouting stuff but we’re not sure what he was saying.

“We ran towards the Black Abbot pub as the lights were on and I know the owner.

“When we got in we explained to the staff what happened.

“We turned around and the man was peering in the windows.

“He eventually left but the staff locked all the doors and made sure we were OK. “It was just so terrifying.” Lisa, 20, a care worker, said: “We’re still quite shaken up from what happened.

“We want to warn parents to ensure their kids are safe when they are out and about.

“I would hate to think what could have happened if it had been a young girl walking along the road alone.”

A police spokeswoman said: “Police are particularly keen to trace a man, described as being 6ft tall, skinny, with longish brown curly hair, 25 to 30 years old, wearing a grey Regatta jacket and cargo trousers.

“He was riding a bicycle and spoke with a foreign accent.”
