The six-times Scottish champions, who hosted the ‘B’ division at the same venue last year, claimed their place at Europe’s top table by finishing in the silver medal position in this year’s event in Lithuania.

Wanderers make their ‘champions league’ debut in pool A against German powerhouses UHC Hamburg, Club de Campo Madrid and Austria’s SV Arminen.

Pool B boasts national club champions AH&BD Amsterdam (Netherlands), Rotweiss Wettingen (Switzerland), Ritm Grodno (Belarus) and MSC Sumchanka (Ukraine).

Club president Pat Joyce said: “It’s a great honour to be selected to host such a prestigious event and we look forward to welcoming all our hockey friends to Dundee, the City of Discovery, on the weekend of February 23-25.”

Meanwhile, the Scottish senior women’s squad play Wales at Glasgow Green this weekend. Entry is free. Scotland’s U18s will be looking to upstage the U21s at the same venue today and tomorrow.
