Unbeaten records on the line in top-of-table clash
As a result of last Saturday’s washout of the Strathmore and Perthshire NEC, this week throws up a top-of-the-table clash between Arrowdawn Gordonians and Stoneywood Dyce.
Both are unbeaten on three wins from three games.
Stoneywood Dyce have hit decent targets for the opposition to chase each week, with several batsmen contributing, and their bowling has been useful as well with an all-round contribution from their attack.
Gordonians have been less tested with the bat, having batted second in every match and comfortably passed their target each time – with Aman Arora, Hamza Arshad and Swapnil Rane showing consistent form with bat and ball. The clash at Countesswells could be a close-run thing.
It could also be a tight game at Mannofield, where the home side have only one win from three but have shown that they can put a total together with more than 200 against Forfarshire and Arbroath, although only the former produced a win.
Visitors Perth Doo’cot have been frustrated by the weather for two weeks in succession. They will be looking to hit the form which brought them success in their one win from two starts, when they hammered 242 against Arbroath thanks to big innings from Trevor Brown and Graham Ferguson and a sparkling bowling display from overseas amateur Emuel Knoesen.
Arbroath United had a moraleboosting win over Mannofield last time out in a match which produced almost 500 runs, with Bryce Carnagie and Darryll Sinclair in sparkling form with the bat. With the 215 they scored in the opener when vainly chasing Mannofield now a distant memory, visitors Forfarshire II must crank up their game with bat and ball if they are to take anything from this one.
Strathmore and Kinloch are struggling in the nether regions of the league. Strathie showed some form when they took the points against Meigle by 11 runs before last week’s rain halted their momentum. They should start favourites at home.
Meigle hosting Dundee HSFP sees third playing fourth. An away win would see Dundee leapfrog their opponents to capture third spot. Balaji Ramalingham has been the form man for the Dalnacraig outfit and, up against Matt Farmer and co, it could be a tasty contest.
