THEATRE: Carnoustie Theatre Club begin their run of the “black farce” Dumbstruck by David Kane today at 7.30pm.

Fans of the stage can catch performanc­es at the Dibble Tree Theatre until Saturday.

Organisers have set a 15-plus age restrictio­n due to adult content. Tickets are available from The Fobel Shop in town and cost £8/£7 concession.

KIRRIEMUIR: The results of the latest whist drive in the Northmuir Hall, Kirriemuir were – 1 Connie Lockwood, 2 Jim Burrows, 3 Mina Whitelaw; booby prize – Margaret Wilson. The next drive will be held on Wednesday September 13.

FORFAR: Demolition work on the former Forfar Academy’s tower block begins today.

Robertson Constructi­on estimate it will take two weeks for demolition to complete. LAURENCEKI­RK: A pub quiz in Laurenceki­rk last week raised more than £800 for Childline.

Staff from the local Scotmid store organised the event at the Crown Inn to raise funds for the NSPCC-run service, which provides free, private and confidenti­al advice over the phone and online to children on a range of issues.

Businesses from across the area donated prizes for the quiz.
