-

As many of the best classical musicians in Angus and Perthshire attend the final rehearsal for this year’s Ruthven Parish Music Festival, the organisers are urging classical music fans to ensure they don’t miss out on tickets for the concerts on Friday June 9 and Sunday June 11.

Evelyn Hood, a member of Ruthven Parish Music Festival committee, said: “The Friday evening concert is a wonderful blend of classical music through the ages, with the expert conducting of Howard Duthie coaxing the maximum out of our acclaimed Ruthven Festival Players.”

The second concert on Sunday afternoon will feature another performance by Festival Players, with singing by highly acclaimed Welsh soprano Zoe Perman.

“I heard Zoe at Tuesday evening’s rehearsal and she is phenomenal,” added Evelyn.

The concerts take place in Ruthven Community Hall, the Angus hamlet’s original parish church,

“This is the 28th Ruthven Festival and its success is often attributed to the wonderful choice of music, excellent musicians and convivial atmosphere.”

Tickets are £20 for each concert, including wine reception, Friday evening buffet/Sunday afternoon strawberries and cream,

Entry is free for U12s. For more information, email ruthvenfestival@tiscali.co.uk or call 01828 632558.
