TRIPLE GOLD FOR McFARLANE Courier Country athletes Joel McFarlane and Bethany McAndrew finished top of the class at the Scottish Schools Track and Field championships at Grangemouth Stadium, writes our athletics correspondent.

Carnoustie High pupil McFarlane won gold in the boys’ B (U17) 100m hurdles, high jump and long jump.

McAndrew (Beath High) warmed up for her appearance at the forthcoming Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas with golds in the 100m hurdles and long jump.

Championship bests included Kirsty Crossan (St Andrews) with 13.45m in the girls’ B shot put.
