Forfar Road upgrade continues

-

Three weeks of disruption on one of Dundee’s busiest roads will begin next week.

Four phases of roadworks on Forfar Road, between Dura Street and the Kingsway, begins on June 30.

Scottish Water began work as part of its £5 million city overhaul on May 23 and this is set to last for six weeks.

The city council sent a letter out to residents advising of the upcoming works and apologising for any delays.

Residents said they accepted the work needs carried out, despite causing some problems.

Forfar road resident Anne Nicoll, 61, said the road does not look like it requires resurfacing.

She added: “We received the letter regarding the upcoming works.

“They are currently replacing the water pipes as they have been doing across the city.

“I’m not sure if the road resurfacing work is a result of the work currently being undertaken but it doesn’t look that bad.

“But if it needs to be done, it needs done.”

Aimee Clark, 34, a senior operations administrator, said: “We’ve had works here for nearly a month or so now so parking has been a bit of a nightmare.

“I wasn’t aware of the further works being carried out.

“The road doesn’t look particularly bad — I’ve certainly seen worse in Dundee.”

Kathleen Robertson, 62, said she welcomed improvements to a “well-used” road.
