They’ve appeared on Debrett’s 2017 list of the most influential people in the UK and racked up more than 100 million views for the video of Shout Out To My Ex in just a few months.

And now Little Mix are heading to Dundee as part of their Summer Shout Out tour of live shows.

The band – Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson – will perform their hits, including Black Magic, Hair and Wings, alongside tracks from their new album Glory Days.

The record spent four weeks at number one, becoming the fastestselling album in the UK charts by a girl group since Destiny’s Child’s Survivor in 2001.

Not bad for a band who were literally thrown together by chance.

All the members originally auditioned as solo artists on the X Factor and were put together for the show’s eighth series in 2011. They went on to win the competition, making them the first and, so far, the only group, to do so – and the rest is history.

With four UK number ones and four platinum albums, Little Mix’s popularity has been put down to people relating to their songs. Shout Out To My Ex, for example, was partly inspired by Perrie’s public break-up with her fiance Zayn Malik.

It won them Best British Single at the 2017 Brit Awards.

The girls, who acknowledge Mariah Carey, Diana Ross, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Destiny’s Child, En Vogue and Rihanna as their musical influences, are now getting ready for their Dundee date.

With around 11,000 fans expected to attend the sell-out concert, Little Mix are the second of three big names to be coming to Dundee this summer, following the success of UB40 in May, and ahead of Olly Murs on July 20.

Liz Doogan-Hobbs, chief executive of LHG Live, the promoters of all three concerts, said: “Pop acts like Little Mix don’t come along that often and we are delighted that we are bringing the world’s biggest girl band here.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Dundee not only for welcoming Little Mix but for being patient and understanding with road closures and anything that may alter their normal day for a few hours.

“We hope the bigger picture of placing Dundee on the map of live music, bringing new people into the city and boosting the city’s economy means that it is all worthwhile.”
