PLAYHOUSE TOPS POLL The Montrose Playhouse Project has reached the judging round of the Jewson Building Better Communities Fund, with a chance to win £50,000 in labour and materials.

The cinema project came first in a public vote with 2,577 votes and final judging will end on July 2.

Organisers would use the cash to begin on the structure and stripping out the old pool.

GALA DAY St Cyrus Gala Day takes place today, from noon to 4pm.

There will be refreshments and a hog roast.

ON THE RIGHT PATH A fundraiser for a sensory path and garden at Carlogie Primary School has reached the half way point towards a £4,000 target.

Daniella Paesano is to trek 26 miles from St Andrews to Monifieth on August 20 as part of the Kilt Walk in the hope of funding a sensory garden at the school her five-year-old son Matteo attends.

BREW AND BLETHER The next Brew and Blether at the Meffan Museum in Forfar will take place on July 6, from 10.30am.

The Forfar Academy exhibition in the museum is into its last two weeks and finishes on July 1.

BEER HAPPENING Stonehaven’s Midsummer Beer Happening raised £27,500, with Guide Dogs Scotland, the town’s tennis club and Sea Cadets as main beneficiaries.
