An RAF legal officer is to be named as the new Scottish Information Commissioner.
The Scottish Parliament will next week be invited to nominate Daren Fitzhenry to the Queen for appointment to the role.
The commissioner is responsible for promoting and enforcing the right of journalists and the public to ask for information held by Scottish public authorities.
The St Andrews-based job has a fixed term of six years and a salary of £73,000.
Mr Fitzhenry is currently a senior officer in the RAF legal branch and previously worked as a solicitor.
