Community project cash hailed

-

Angus MP Kirstene Hair has welcomed over £100,000 of grants to local projects.

Projects that change young lives in Angus were given a slice of a £1.5 million pot.

Angus Women’s Aid received £49,739 and will use the money to set up a Young Experts Group to develop initiatives focusing on domestic abuse and its impact.

From their base in Kirriemuir, DD8 Music will be able to continue their community music project for young people for another two years, thanks to an award of £50,000.

Meanwhile, a two-year funding package has given the Brechin Youth Project at the Attic a “bright and stable future”.

Ms Hair said: “It is fantastic to see community projects in Angus receive grants from the Big Lottery Fund.

“I’m particularly pleased to hear that young people in my home town of Brechin are benefiting with funding to continue the local Youth Project’s evening activities.

“DD8 Music is another very positive initiative that encourages young people in the Kirriemuir area to get involved in music.

“Angus Women’s Aid Ltd provides a hugely important service and the grant from the Big Lottery Fund will help deliver outreach work in local schools and youth clubs.

“All of these projects are doing great work and I’m sure this income will go to good use.”
