Partnership provides palliative care facility boost at Clova ward

-

A Macmillan day assessment unit providing community palliative care and day treatment facilities at Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre in Forfar has been made possible through a partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and NHS Tayside.

The unit has been created in Clova ward and was officially opened by NHS Tayside board vice-chairman Stephen Hay and Joanne Adamson, Macmillan development manager for north Scotland.

They were joined by representatives from the Angus Health and Social Care Partnership and members of local community groups on a tour of the new facilities given by Rachel Brown from project architects, Aitken Turnbull.

Mr Hay said: “This new facility for people living in Forfar and the surrounding area will provide essential services and support for those living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.”

Joanne Adamson added: “We are delighted to be working with NHS Tayside to enhance the care and support available to palliative care patients in Angus.

“We know the new Macmillan day assessment and treatment unit will make a big difference to people in the area affected by cancer and their families.

“It’s thanks to the hard work and dedication of our supporters in Tayside who raise so much money for us that we are able to make such a significant contribution to this important project.

“We are incredibly grateful for their continued support – without it investments like this would not be possible.”
