A new LINTRATHEN

LOCH record has been set with a fish at 8lbs 2oz, writes our angling correspondent.

The rainbow was caught by J Richards, a member of Stanley AC, just off the Dam Wall on a Black and Green Viva.

Lintrathen has seen a very busy spell with anglers and club outings over this period including BOS East with four boats taking 11 fish at 25lbs ozs, with the heaviest going to G Manson at 4lbs 6oz.

Dundee Hydro caught three at 6lbs 2oz, NCR had three boats and took six fish for 11lbs 6ozs.

The SANACC semifinals saw 17 boats take 81 for 167lbs 8oz with 30 fish returned.

First place went to Chris McAllister with eight for 13lb 7ozs. Tyler Hay was second with six fish for 11lbs 3oz and third was Stuart Marklow with six for 10lb 11ozs.

Green/black flies continue to work well across the loch with yellow dancer with red head, black cormorant, lime green fritz and gold ribbed hares ear also proving effective. RESCOBIE LOCH.

Angling is on top form with fish being caught from all over the loch and at all depths. Anglers are also getting plenty of offers and opportunities.

The fish of the month for June leader has changed from G Cheetham’s rainbow of 4lbs 8oz to G Burnet Brown of 6lbs 12oz.

Another steady week at NEWTON FARM FISHERY. Evenings have been superb with fish rising everywhere.

Sedges, crippled midge, daddies, hoppers and spiders doing well.

During the day damsels, diawls, buzzers and fabs are best. Craig McIntosh had his new personal best with a rainbow at 11lb 8ozs and returning a further 14.

Jack Ford managed 12 up to 5lb. Top rod again this week went to Richard Shepherd with 20+ in an evening session, meaning he’s landed 50 fish in two outings this week! LAKE OF MENTEITH. Blustery conditions looked as if it was going to be a hard session on the lake for heat eight of the Scottish Club Championships last Saturday.

Most of the boats headed for the top end of the lake looking for some shelter from the wind and it wasn’t long before the wind started to drop and the anglers started connecting with the fish.

The top three teams qualified for the first semi final on August 25 and they are Lintrathen FF A with 19 fish for 40lb 3.0oz, Kelso AA A with 14 for 33lb 7.1oz and Saltire AC with 14 for 30lb 12.2oz
