Dundee High go down to leaders Stoneywood

-

After the pleasant surprise that the Strathmore and Perthshire NEC got away with a full card on Saturday despite some pretty gloomy weather predictions, there were no further shocks as the results came in.

Nothing changes at the top of the table after Stoneywood Dyce got the better of Dundee HSFP at Peoples Park by three wickets after struggling just a bit to overtake the 180 target.

It had been close when the two had met in April and the result again was hardly a crushing win for S/D.

Zahid Rasheed with 66 and Makid Rashid’s 30 helped Dundee to their total but after taking 4-23 David Kidd top scored for S/D, followed by Liam Lindsay (42) and Sean Coetzer (40) to earn them a less than convincing win.

Gordonians hold on to second spot after dealing with Strathmore’s total of 131 in 37 overs – three more than Strathmore had lasted.

Matt Simpson was the only Strathie batsman to make any impression with 62 out of the 131 but Agrar Ahmed’s 47 helped steer the visitors to a three-wicket win, slightly narrower than when the two met on the opening day of the season.

Thanks to some quality bowling from Emuel Knoessen with 4-15, Perth Doo’cot had Kinloch all back in the pavilion for 111 and then took 37 overs to scramble past that modest total. That win sees them hold on to third spot.

Meigle didn’t have their strongest possible side out against Arbroath United at Lochlands but held on until they had only two balls left before succumbing for 123.

Jack Waller set about the visitors bowling with a hefty 41 and in less than 32 overs Arbroath had wrapped the game up with a win by six wickets.

Forfarshire 2nds crashed in spectacular fashion at home to Mannofield.

Mannofield hit 248 for seven but Shire were knocked out for 121 with 10 overs remaining, with Graeme Garden, who grabbed four wickets, also hitting a nifty 50.

Forfarshire are again second bottom, only above Kinloch.
