Number of options on the table

-

Dave Mackay has settled into life as manager of League Two Stirling Albion over the past eight months.

Though his job can be all-consuming at times, he admits he’s come to realise that he has the time – and the need – for a second job.

“I wanted to get my feet under the table so I fully knew my role at the club,” said Dave, whose dedication and determination made him a firm favourite with fans of St Johnstone and Dundee.

“I wanted to know exactly what was required to ensure that I give my full commitment to Stirling Albion.

“Now I know the role and its time constraints. You do get consumed by a lot of stuff, but if something is flexible I’d love to give it a go.

“I knew what I was getting into, but this is a part-time job and the wages are not what I was used to as a fulltime player.

“There is so much to do at times, but actually you are not in at the club itself all that much during the week.

“I was looking around on websites to see what was available but they all seemed to want specific experience that I just don’t have from my time as a footballer.

“As I wasn’t really sure what field to go into I thought I might as well put a message out on LinkedIn and test the water.

“Almost overnight I’ve had a number of people get in touch already and there might be a few interesting things I’ll need to take a look at.”
