Summary cases calling before Sheriff Gregor Murray

-

An Angus man has admitted trying to bite a nightclub bouncer in a late-night fracas.

Jordan Will, 21, of Rowan Path, Arbroath admitted assaulting Devito’s doorman John Tutchner on November 27 last year.

Mr Tutchner was called to an incident on the club’s lower level around 1am, and found the accused on the floor, refusing to leave.

Defence agent Lynne Sturrock admitted a previous analogous conviction, and said the apprentice electrician was “fearful” of being remanded.

“He was extremely intoxicated and was out with friends,” she said. “I’d say he is an immature 21, but he has fully accepted his responsibility.”

Sheriff Gregor Murray told him: “If you come back, having done something so stupid again, there will be no alternative to custody.”

Will was ordered to pay £250 compensation and was placed on an 18-month community payback order with 120 hours of unpaid work.

Ronnie Thomson, 26, Nursery Park, Brechin, admitted assaulting his partner at an address on Caledonian Road on November 9 last year, pushing her on to a bed and repeatedly striking her on the body with a pram, to her injury.

Sheriff Murray imposed a one-year community payback order requiring him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

Stephen Beech, 38, Watson Street, Letham, admitted drinkdriving on the Woodville to Cononsyth road, near Arbroath, on March 17.

He was disqualified from driving for seven years and was given a one-year payback order, with 140 hours of unpaid work.
