Duncan named top sporting personality at Webster’s High
Webster’s High School in Kirriemuir has celebrated its sporting achievers at its second annual awards ceremony.
Inaugurated last year, the sports awards also recognise the commitment of pupils who volunteer to lead and assist with extra-curricular clubs at the secondary, primary schools and community clubs, while also helping lead events in the cluster.
Active Schools coordinator Magnus Moncrieff said they were grateful for sponsorship and contributions from Miller Hendry Solicitors and Estate Agents, McKenna Electrical Ltd, Kirriemuir Rotary Club and Kirriemuir Round Table.
A number of representatives of the sponsoring bodies were present at the awards ceremony, where the guest speaker was former Webster’s pupil Kirsty Cameron.
Kirsty has been volunteering with Angus Axis Gymnastics club and Kirrie Thistle Youths FC girls’ section.
She was also instrumental in setting up the Ladies Leisurely Cycle Club, a thriving group whose success won her a national community sportswoman of the year award in 2016. Awards: Team of the Year – S2 giant heptathlon team.
Volunteer of the Year – Leah Buist.
Young Volunteer of the Year – Christie Phillips.
Lifetime Achievement Award – Hannah Dryden.
