Doyle third in Rabat Diamond League

Kinross athlete Eilidh Doyle was third over 400m hurdles at the Diamond League in Rabat, Morocco, clocking 54.92 seconds, outside her season’s best of 54.36 when placing third at the Lausanne Diamond League at the beginning of the month.

Two-time world champion Zuzana Hejnova (Czech R), looking for her first top-three finish of the season, won in 54.22 ahead of Jamaica’s Janieve Russell (54.36).

Doyle had the satisfacti­on of beating Lausanne runner-up Léa Sprunger in fourth, the Swiss record holder clocking 55.22.

GB’s CJ Ujah posted a stunning 100m victory, dipping under the 10 second barrier with 9.98 seconds, a meeting record and the equal seventh fastest time by a UK athlete.

Youssef Ben Meite (Ivory Coast) placed second in 10.01 with GB’s Nathaneel Mitchell-Blake third in 10.18.

Ujah said: “This is just the shape I’m in. Competitio­n in this event is very tough especially in my country.

“Thanks to my coach, things are going better and better for me. I am having some more competitio­ns in the next weeks. I hope I can do something very special in London.”

Double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson posted her 14th straight 100m win, the Jamaican clocking 10.87, a meeting record.

Rising GB sprinter Daryll Neita was sixth in 11.16.

Olympic silver medallist Andre de Grasse returned to internatio­nal competitio­n after notching a sprint double at the Canadian championsh­ips last weekend.

A 200m meeting record of 20.03 followed, the Canadian powering ahead over the final 30m.

GB’s Zharnel Hughes posted a season’s best of 20.22 in 3rd.

Meanwhile Robbie Grabartz finished third in the high jump clearing 2.27m.

The event was won by Ukraine’s Adriy Protsenko with 2.29m.
