Team’s tribute to ex-goalkeeper

-

A football team held a minute’s applause for their Angus colleague last night after his sudden death, aged 33.

Stuart Gordon, from Forfar, was found at his North Street home on Saturday.

The popular joiner played in goal for a number of Tayside football teams.

One of his recent amateur sides, Morgan FP, held a minute’s applause for Mr Gordon before their game against Arbroath Vics at Craigie.

The club paid tribute to his “great character” and added: “It is with great sadness that the club learnt of the passing of former goalkeeper Stuart Gordon over the weekend.

“He was our first-choice goalkeeper from December 2014 to January 2017 when work commitments took over.

“He still managed to play a few more games for the club until the end of May before moving on to hometown club Forfar West End this pre-season.

“The players and committee are devastated with the news.

“We all shared many great times with Stuart on and off the pitch and he made some great friends through football at all the clubs he played for.”

Mr Gordon is survived by parents Keith and Sandra, and his sister Katy.

Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.

A number of Mr Gordon’s friends paid tribute to him on social media, one saying he had “an absolute heart of gold”.
