A new beer has been created to commemorate Arbroath Football Club’s League 2 championship-winning season.

Lichtie Best has been brought exclusively to the town by Shotz Arbroath, who have linked up with Molson Coors and the Gayfield club.

The response to the ale following a short trial of a keg at the snooker club was described as “fantastic” by Shotz owners Ryan and Marc Fleming.

Marc said: “Lichtie Best is made in Scotland and is supplied through our lead brewers at Molson Coors.

“We wanted to find a special way to not only celebrate Arbroath FC winning the league this season, but also to commemorate it in a way that will last for years to come.

“I had the idea when we recently renovated the club and were looking for some new products to add to the new bar.

“I contacted our rep at Molson Coors and they were instantly excited by the idea.

“It’s a great honour for us to be able to bring this beer exclusively to the town and work alongside some of the guys from the football club.

“What the guys achieved on the pitch last season was incredible and deserves something extra special like this to help celebrate it.”

Arbroath clinched the Ladbrokes League 2 title in May on Helicopter Saturday with a 1-1 draw away to Stirling Albion.

Dick Campbell’s men pipped the manager’s former side Forfar to the post despite the Loons being 11 points clear at one stage.

Shotz owners Ryan and Marc are no strangers to titles themselves as successful international pool players for Scotland.

They recently joined the likes of John Higgins, Neil Robertson and Mark Williams among the UK invites to the Chinese 8-ball World Championship.
