Season will come alive with a goal, believes boss

-

East Fife manager Darren Young wants his players to show how resilient they can be by going ahead against visitors Alloa and staying in front.

Young believes that his Bayview squad have the attributes required to defend a lead, although getting in front proved to be troublesome at Stranraer last weekend.

The Fifers went down 1-0 but Young knows where his side went wrong.

He said: “We may have lost but it is a game that we can take plenty of positives from.

“We could have scored a couple of goals before Stranraer went ahead and if we had done that we would have been coming home talking about a great start to the season.

“I believe that if we get in front we have the players to make us a very hard side to break down but when you don’t take your chances and make a mistake at the back then you get punished.

“That is what happened last Saturday but hopefully everyone has learned from it. There were plenty of signs for us to be optimistic.”

The visitors are also looking to bounce back, with Young adding: “Alloa lost a last-minute goal to Raith Rovers last weekend and they will have been disappointed as three points became one.

“We have noted how important Scott Taggart is to their team as he drives them forward a lot.

“If we can keep him quiet we have a better chance of imposing ourselves on the game. If we score then hopefully that will be our season alive.”

Former Cowdenbeath, Dumbarton and Clyde defender Scott Linton has agreed to sign for the Bayview men and he could feature against the Wasps.

Ross Mutch is available after injury, however Jonathan Page, Mark Lamont, Chris Kane and Kevin Smith remain out.

Meanwhile, tickets for the Raith Rovers match on August 26 will be on sale from Monday.
