Young ace Nathan eyeing world champ in arrows showdown

-

Angus darts wonderkid Nathan Girvan is set to take on his toughest challenge yet – the Lakeside world champion.

The Forfar oche starlet will go toe to toe with Glen “Duzza” Durrant when the world champion appears in Monifieth this week after signing up to an Angus exhibition.

Durrant, who will bring the Lakeside trophy to Saturday’s event at the Panmure Hotel, is joining the likes of threetime world champion Martin “Wolfie” Adams, Ronnie “The Rocket” Baxter and Tony “Silverback” O’Shea at the event.

Nathan, 14, who was runnerup in this year’s Lakeside world youth final, will take on Durrant as part of a fun Auld Enemy element of the show.

2017 World Champion Durrant will also face Dundee’s Paul “Chocolate” Coughlin, former Scottish football international turned darts player Kevin Kyle and four local opponents.

The Game of Throws exhibition was rescheduled from January and will feature a number of other top players.

Behind the Oche managing director Russell Roebuck said it would be “the ultimate darts experience in Angus and Dundee”.

“Game of Throws will feature some of the biggest entertainers in the world of darts.

“The night is going to throw up some fantastic match-ups and will give local darts fans a chance to watch players they would normally only see on TV.”

Behind the Oche previously hosted the successful Reservoir Darts events in Forfar which featured Gary Anderson, Ted Hankey and Scott Waites.

Tickets are available from btodirect.com.
