Summary cases calling before Sheriff Gregor Murray yesterday

A 17-year-old Angus youth admitted carrying a knife on a Stagecoach bus travelling between Dundee and Forfar on the A90 dual carriagewa­y on December 11 last year.

The bus was travelling by Inveraldie at the time of the incident.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also admitted causing a breach of the peace by making threats of violence towards children aged 14 and 15 years old, at the same time and place.

Sentence was deferred to next month for a psychiatri­c assessment.

Carden Simpson, 18, of Lingard Street in Carnoustie, admitted careless driving and using a car without a licence or insurance in the town’s Ferrier Street on June 5 this year.

Simpson admitted driving without due care or attention, failing to give way or priority to a van and colliding with it, causing damage to both vehicles.

He also admitted possessing cannabis on the same date at Arbroath police office.

Simpson is currently in custody and his sentence was deferred to September 14 for a criminal justice social work report.

Ian Grieve, 34, of Damacre Road, Brechin, admitted assaulting his partner Ashley Munro in the town’s St Andrews Street on May 6 this year, pushing her on the body, putting his arms around her neck, and placing her in a choke hold and restrictin­g her breathing, to her injury.

Sheriff Murray imposed a one-year community payback order with supervisio­n requiremen­ts and 90 hours of unpaid work, to be reviewed on November 16.
