Woman sent goods to ex due to ‘frustration’ over break-up

-

A 55-year-old Angus woman who bombarded her ex with voicemails before ordering goods to be sent to his home has been told to behave for six months by a sheriff.

Rhona Robson embarked on the campaign of contacting her former partner after their 14-year relationship ended earlier this year.

Appearing before Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown at Forfar, Robson, of Gardyne Street, Friockheim, admitted engaging in a course of conduct between June and July which caused fear and alarm to the man by leaving messages for him and repeatedly ordering goods in his name.

The court heard the couple had been communicating by text following the break-up but the accused became persistent in her contact, including eleven calls in a single day.

The complainer then received contact from a number of companies thanking him for his inquiry and it then became apparent Robson had been ordering items in his name, leading to police being called.

Defence solicitor Lynne Sturrock said: “This is a woman who has never been before a court, and while the libel is one of stalking it was not vindictive.

“She fully accepts it was not acceptable behaviour, but the messages were not threatening.”

Ms Sturrock added: “There is no prospect of a reconciliation but these were offences borne out of frustration more than anything else.”

A Crown motion for a non-harrassment order being imposed on Robson was rejected by the sheriff, who imposed a good behaviour order.

The victim had said an order would help “keep him calm”.
