The Yorkshire Cricket Club committee are to meet in Leeds on Friday to discuss their proposed tour of Rhodesia. The club’s secretary, Mr JH Nash, said last night: “I hope to have more information by Friday about who is actually inviting us to play. So far all we have is the telegraphic address: ‘Cricket Salisbury.’” The proposed trip has been “deplored” by the Commonwealth Office, who said in Whitehall it would amount to “offering aid and comfort to an illegal regime.” The players have said they’d like to go.
