Mcgregor deal keeps him at Parkhead until 2021

-

Callum Mcgregor signed a new four-year deal with Celtic but can see himself staying at Parkhead for the rest of his career.

Aside from a loan spell at Notts County in 2013/13 the 24-year-old midfielder has been at the Glasgow club since was eight years old.

And after penning a new contract which takes him up until 2021 a “delighted” Mcgregor admits he sees no reason why he would not want to stay beyond that.

“It is a great place to play,” said the former Hoops youth player, who has scored three goals this season.

“I came to the club when I was eight and it is pretty much all I’ve known since then apart from that spell at Notts County.

“It has been a great place to play and obviously coming off the back of last season (winning domestic treble), big Champions League games as well, everything seems to be going in the right direction for the club and it is fine for me to stay.

“I just wanted to sign it and continue to play and develop under the manager (Brendan Rodgers).

“He gave me the confidence to go and really kick on.

“I remember having a chat with him around Christmas-time.

“He said to me that it was my turn to show what I could do.

“I started scoring a couple of goals and then you start to take confidence from that.”
