Wonderful times ahead at theatre

-

For this autumn, Pitlochry Festival Theatre has commissioned leading Scottish playwright Peter Arnott to adapt the Monarch of the Glen.

Familiar to many through the BBC TV series, it is a sporran-swinging romp around the glens, blending Tom Sharpe and PG Wodehouse in a madcap mix of kilts, ramblers and politics and is a brand new piece of Scottish theatre not to be missed.

The world premiere opens on October 26.

This year’s musical spectacular is the all-singing, all-dancing Singin’ In The Rain.

It is one of the best movie musicals ever made and certain to be yet another PFT winter extravaganza.

With all-time favourites such as Make ‘Em Laugh, Good Mornin’ and the immortal Singin’ In The Rain, you’ll be smiling all through the festive season.

Moving into 2018, the Banff Mountain Film Festival returns for the fourth year on February 3 with a brand new short film double bill bringing you adrenaline packed action sports, stunning scenery and thought-provoking pieces from the world’s leading adventure film-makers.

Scotland’s literary year gets into gear on February 15-18 with Winter Words, the theatre’s festival of the written and spoken word.

The team can reveal that muchloved BBC Scotland broadcaster Sally Magnusson will be appearing, hot on the heels of the publication of her first novel, the Sealwoman’s Gift.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival and an appearance from Sally Magnusson are two highlights in Pitlochry to look forward to.

Spring brings even more to choose from: Scottish opera, ballet and a number of concerts from Scots trad live act of the year Skippinish to Magical Mozart by Candlelight – even a first time visit from the Circus of Horrors.
