Dark Blues sta­dium switch may in­clude mu­seum and ho­tel

Vi­sion: Pub­lic con­sul­ta­tion on the plans will take place on Fri­day at Dundee Ice Arena

More de­tails have emerged of Dundee FC’S pro­posed new sta­dium if the club’s move from Dens Park is al­lowed.

The Courier re­vealed ear­lier this week how the Dark Blues have a new cre­ma­to­rium and ho­tel in their sights if a new sta­dium on land near Cam­per­down Park is built.

A hous­ing de­vel­op­ment and an ex­ten­sion to Dundee Ice Arena are also be­ing con­sid­ered.

De­signs drawn up by city ar­chi­tects Lead­ing­ham Jame­son Rogers and Hynd re­veal the club’s board hope to in­stall a bridge to con­nect a 100-room ho­tel to the pro­posed 15,000 seat sta­dium.

A club mu­seum, as well as bars and restau­rants, are also be­ing con­sid­ered, along with a club shop, gym and creche.

In ad­di­tion, draw­ings re­veal plans for 140 homes and 62 apart­ments to the north of the sta­dium.

Ar­chi­tects have also put for­ward plans to im­prove ac­cess to the site and for new park­ing.

Dundee man­ager Neil Mccann has al­ready said he would rel­ish the pro­posed move.

The Dark Blues boss said: “We’ve got bril­liant plans which are go­ing to be so ex­cit­ing for not just the club but the whole city.

“I be­lieve these plans are the right ones if we want to have the men­tal­ity of be­ing a top club.”

Dundee fans chief Kenny Ross said the plans have left him “ex­cited”.

Mr Ross, a club his­to­rian and pres­i­dent of the Dundee Sup­port­ers As­so­ci­a­tion, said he be­lieves the club is look­ing to fol­low in the foot­steps of other Scot­tish teams by tak­ing ad­van­tage of com­mer­cial op­por­tu­ni­ties.

A pub­lic con­sul­ta­tion on the plans has been ar­ranged to take place at Dundee Ice Arena on Fri­day.

The event will be held be­tween 1pm and 8pm when mem­bers of the pub­lic will have the op­por­tu­nity to re­view pre­lim­i­nary draw­ings and talk to rep­re­sen­ta­tives in­volved in the project to find out more about the site.
