Pensioner unhurt after fire
A woman is unaccounted for following a serious fire at a house in Inverness.
Police said initial inquiries suggest the 71-year-old who lived there was in the property at the time of the blaze. Emergency services were called to the scene at a house on Island Bank Road at 1.55am yesterday.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, however officers have not been able to enter the building due to “extensive structural damage”.
The woman’s next of kin have been told of the situation.
Police are carrying out a joint investigation with the fire service to establish what happened.
