Criminal cases heard before Sheriff Mackay at Forfar

-

A drunken youth was arrested just a fortnight after his 18th birthday when he was refused service at Forfar’s Asda store.

Connor Low was on medication at the time and ignored doctor’s orders not to mix it with alcohol.

At the town’s sheriff court, Low, of Glenogil Terrace, admitted two breach of the peace charges relating to the incident on August 25, the first at the New Road supermarket and the second in a police vehicle en route to Dundee headquarters and at the station, in which he delivered a barrage of racist abuse towards officers.

Low was already on bail at the time of the incidents.

Defence solicitor Nick Markowski said: “He was on medication and was advised to avoid alcohol but that was advice he did not follow. He went to Asda, was refused service and police were called.”

Sheriff Alison Mackay deferred sentence until October 19 for a social work report to be obtained,

Robert Archibald, 65, of Grampian Park, Forfar, was fined £600 and banned for 15 months after he admitted driving on the A90 Dundee to Forfar dual carriageway on August 20 while more than three times the legal limit.

Police saw Archibald’s car going slowly and weaving on the road around 2.20am with smoke coming from it.

Depute fiscal Jill Drummond said that when he was pulled over it was immediately obvious the accused had been drinking, and he told police he had hit a barrier after leaving Dundee.

Archibald recorded an alcohol reading of 72 microgrammes against a legal limit of 22.
