Glens score 50 to go second

Glenrothes climbed into second spot in BT Caledonia Division One after chalking up a 50-17 win away to Banff.

The Fifers were well in control at half-time with a 31-0 lead after Willie Maxwell touched down three times, while there was one try apiece for Aaron Campbell and Steven Dean, with Kain Duguid kicking two conversion­s.

Banff enjoyed better fortunes in the second half, with three tries, although Glens matched that tally with touchdowns from Chris Docherty, Kyle Mcintosh and Duguid, who also landed two conversion­s.

Dunfermlin­e posted a first win of the campaign when they saw off Harris 31-17 at Mckane Park. Fraser Cowe had an early converted try, but a Joe Abbott touchdown, converted by Graham Hopkins, squared matters before Marc Wilson dotted down to give the Elliott Road men the lead.

However, Stuart Roy and Dylan O’shea each bagged a try to give Dunfermlin­e a 19-12 interval lead. Alex Conyers claimed the bonus point try and Mark Spacey completed the scoring for Dunfermlin­e before Craig Hodge powered over to claim a consolatio­n score for Harris.

Blairgowri­e sit four points clear in Division Two (Midlands) after posting a 27-17 win in their top of the table clash with Hillfoots.

Carnoustie moved level on points with Hillfoots after a 53-15 win at home to Kirkcaldy seconds and Panmure consolidat­ed their place in mid-table with a 31-15 success away to basement side Falkirk seconds.

Madras opened their account for the season when they got the better of Stirling County thirds 3215 at St Andrews and Kinross were 24-13 winners at home to Morgan.

With Waid’s game postponed, Rosyth Sharks moved level at the top of Division Three (Midlands) with a 46-35 home win over Perthshire seconds. Arbroath suffered their first loss when they went down 36-18 at home to Howe of Fife seconds, and Dundee University Medics returned from Bannockbur­n with a comfortabl­e 52-0 win.

Glenrothes Developmen­t XV and Aberfeldy took three points each from a 22-22 draw, while Bo’ness recorded a first win of the season, defeating Stobswell with a 39-14 at home.
