Canadian hit-man Evan Bloodoff stamped his name all over Fife Flyers’ Challenge Cup Group B clash with Edinburgh Capitals.

The 26-year-old claimed three goals in less than 10 minutes to put his side on route to victory.

Earlier, Fife caught Capitals cold by scoring through Liam Heelis after 86 seconds, Peter Leblanc and Ian Young setting up the chance.

And it took another 23 minutes for the home side to level, Sergei Banashkov scoring on the power play after homebred Tom Muir was in the sin bin for hooking. Igor Valeyev and Pavel Vorobyev assisted.

It was Leblanc who fired Flyers ahead for a second time less than three minutes later.

But back came Capitals and Marek Tvrdon and Dylan Anderson were involved in the build-up with Mike Cazzola netting only 29 seconds later.

But the roof fell in for the home side when Flyers fired four unanswered goals, three of them from Bloodoff.

Chase Schaber netted the go-ahead goal at 32 minutes with Russ Moyer and Danick Gauthier influential.

Then Bloodoff took centre stage. He scored after 36 minutes with Ricards Birzins and Leblanc involved and again, this time on the power play, with a second to go in the period.

And five minutes after the restart it was Bloodoff again on the power play following a pass from Young.

Alex Islamov pulled one back for the home side after 52 minutes for 6-3 but Charlie Mosey finished the scoring with less than five minutes remaining, Young assisting on the power play.

Joey de Concilys and Tyler Brickler netted doubles as Dundee Stars last night shot down Elite League newcomers Milton Keynes Lightning.

The 24-year-old Canadian defenceman opened the scoring and claimed his second late in the middle period.

Lightning were level at 1-1 when Kevin King netted on the power play after 11 minutes but four straight goals sealed the outcome.

Concilys scored after 10 minutes but King levelled less than a minute later.

Then Brickler’s goal after 18 minutes started the blitz.

He counted again on a power play in the 35th minute for 3-1 and Concilys’ second came just over a minute later.

Jimmy Jensen completed the scoring on the power play with less than three minutes left.

Chase Schaber claimed a double as Fife Flyers skated to a 5-1 victory over rivals Dundee Stars in front of nearly 1,800 fans at Kirkcaldy on Saturday.

Three first-period goals put the home side in control but Stars pulled one back through Jordan Cownie with 24 minutes remaining.

Flyers’ other scorers were Charlie Mosey and Liam Heelis.
