Weekend blows force Stars coach to consider changes

-

Dundee Stars look set to freshen up their roster after back-to-back weekend defeats.

Coach Omar Pacha, who doubles as general manager, was last night in talks with club bosses with the Canadian looking at options.

Pacha said he was lost for words after Saturday’s home capitulation to Edinburgh Capitals. And he described the Elite League thrashing as one of the toughest defeat of his coaching career.

Pacha said: “I’m going into a meeting here and we’re looking at options.

“We’re looking to change things and to upgrade the team.”

Asked if the axe would fall, he said: “Most likely, yes.”

Stars had a gym session last night and return to on-ice training today.

The Dundee side currently prop up the 12-strong league with two points from four matches and face the top two clubs in the division this weekend.

They travel to Pacha’s former team, Manchester Storm, in the Elite League on Saturday. Storm top the league with 12 points from eight matches,

Stars then entertain defending champions Sheffield Steelers at Dundee Ice Arena on Sunday. Steelers have nine points from their eight outings.

Pacha said: “We have to freshen things up. It will be a hard training session on Wednesday.

“Guys have to show what they can give and some guys have yet to bring to the table.”
